Abstract Paintings
Alcohol inks are an alcohol-based, highly pigmented ink that can be diluted with isopropyl alcohol which allows for the expansion of media over the page. Isopropyl alcohol is used as a thinner and medium for the inks. The alcohol creates a beautiful bloom of the inks when placed inside and allows the inks to attain the delicate fades of color as seen in the painting as well as create beautiful textures and transparent washes. This media dries quickly but reignites whenever alcohol is added It. is similar to oils, acrylics & watercolors where media are also applied in layers over time by the artist using various techniques to create depth, composition, balance & interest.
Alissa Rosenberg is an artist living in the New York area. She works with photography, digital art, inks, and, encaustic, to explore ideas about transparency, depth, the interplay of color, textures, and shape. Her ink work is bold and expressive yet graceful and delicate, focusing on the evocation of mood rather than the depiction of form. Her paintings are often abstractions utilizing metallic pigments sometimes combined with other mixed media elements such acrylics.
